Privacy policy

What we collect
When you create an account we store your name (optional) and email address.
When you submit an incident report we store the details you type: the category of abuse, the issue, the institution or place involved, your description, the destination you chose, your preferred language, and whether the report is anonymous.
If you allow it, we store your device location or an address you typed. If you attach audio or video, we store those recordings.
How your information is stored
Reports, recordings and account details are stored in an encrypted database and file storage operated for Usizo. Traffic to the app is encrypted (HTTPS).
Only your own account can open the reports you submit. No other user of Usizo can see your report history.
Anonymous reports
If you mark a report anonymous, the report itself is shown as anonymous. The report stays linked to your account privately so that you can find it again in My Reports — that link is never shown to anyone else.
What Usizo does with reports
Usizo records your report and the organisation you chose as its intended destination. Usizo does not automatically send reports to the police or any other authority. Contacting an organisation is always your decision, and the app gives you the phone numbers to do that yourself.
In an emergency, use the emergency numbers in the app (112, 10111, 10177, 0800 428 428) to call for help directly.
Deleting your data
You can delete your whole account, including every report, recording and uploaded file, from the My Reports page in the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Before deleting your account, write down the reference numbers of any reports you may still need to give to an authority — after deletion they cannot be recovered.
Children
Usizo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
